This 13-day Morocco tour takes you across Morocco, starting and ending in Casablanca. Over twelve nights, you’ll have the chance to explore almost every remarkable place in the country.

Your adventure starts in the north, with stops in Casablanca, Rabat, the capital city, and the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. You’ll also visit the ancient Roman ruins at Volubilis, Meknes, which was once the capital under the Ismaili dynasty, and Fes, known as Morocco’s cultural heart.

Next, you’ll head south to Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and visit the peaceful Cedar Forests. The journey also takes you to Midelt, the beautiful Ziz Valley, the lively market in Rissani, and Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils.

One of the main highlights is exploring the Sahara Desert near Merzouga. You’ll go camel trekking and spend a night in a comfortable desert camp, watching stunning sunsets and sunrises over the dunes. The trip also includes visits to the impressive Todra and Dades Gorges and the historic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Casablanca – Visit The Largest City Of Morocco

Your first day on this 13-Day Grand Morocco Tour from Casablanca begins with a warm welcome, either at the airport or at your hotel in Casablanca, the country’s largest city and business center. We’ll start by visiting the impressive Hassan II Mosque, which stands on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. As Morocco’s largest mosque, its beautiful details and ocean views make it a must-see.

After you have some free time for lunch, we’ll continue exploring Casablanca’s main sights. Depending on your arrival time, our plans may include:

Mohammed V Square, a lively downtown spot known for its colonial-era architecture

A quick photo stop at the famous Rick’s Café, made famous by the classic film *Casablanca*

A pleasant walk along Casablanca’s colorful seafront promenade, the Corniche

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat the capital – Assilah

After breakfast, we’ll travel along the coast to Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its imperial cities. There, we’ll visit the main sights, including the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas. You’ll have free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll head north to Assilah, a lovely coastal town, where we’ll stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 3: Assilah – Tangier – Rif mountains – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we’ll leave Assilah and head north along the coast to Tangier, known as the “bride of the north.” Tangier sits where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, near Cape Spartel in the Strait of Gibraltar. We’ll start by exploring the city’s highlights, including the Caves of Hercules and Cape Spartel. After lunch, we’ll travel inland toward Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains. We’ll stop at several scenic spots along the way to take photos. Our day ends with an overnight stay at a hotel in Chefchaouen.

Day 4: Sightseeing Chefchaouen the blue city

After breakfast, we’ll head out to explore Chefchaouen, known as the “Blue City.” The name Achaoun means “horns” in Berber, and the town sits in the Rif Mountains of northwestern Morocco. Chefchaouen is famous for its blue-and-white buildings and narrow streets. We’ll start with a relaxed walk through the old Medina, where you’ll see beautiful blue doors and whitewashed walls. After that, you’ll have free time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to hike up to the Spanish Mosque, which sits on a hill and gives you amazing views of the city. At the end of the day, we’ll return to your hotel, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 5: Chefchaouen – The Roman ruins of Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, you can wander through the beautiful blue streets of Chefchaouen. Next, we visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, known for its well-preserved ruins and status as a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you explore, you’ll see impressive mosaics, old columns, and arches. Once we’ve had time to walk among the ruins, we travel about 30 kilometers to Meknes, a former capital during the Ismaili dynasty and one of Morocco’s imperial cities. In Meknes, we’ll visit highlights like Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani reservoir, the old Royal Stables, the granary, and the tomb of Moulay Ismail. Finally, we head to Fes, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional Riad.

Day 6: Sightseeing Fes with a Local Guide

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Fes Riad to begin your exploration of Fes, one of Morocco’s top imperial cities and the country’s cultural and spiritual center.

Your tour starts with a drive around the city. First, we will stop at the impressive Royal Palace Gate, then visit the Mellah, the old Jewish district. Next, you will enjoy great views from Borj Sud, which overlooks the Medina. We will finish this part of the tour at the Ceramic Village & School, where you can see traditional crafts being made.

Subsequently, the focus shifts to a guided walk. Prepare to be transported back in time as we enter the ancient Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and among the most intact historic urban centers in the Arab world. With an expert local guide leading the way, you will discover key sites like the Al Attarine Madrasa, the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University — frequently cited as the globe’s oldest operating university — and the vibrant Chouara Tanneries, where leather treatment still employs techniques dating back hundreds of years.

After exploring Fes’s fascinating history, we will drive you back to your Riad so you can relax.

Day 7: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest- Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga Sahara

After breakfast, we head south on our thirteen-day journey through Morocco, passing through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane. Known for its cool weather, snowfall, and chalet-style buildings, Ifrane is often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, we visit the cedar forest, home to Barbary apes. You’re welcome to feed them as you walk through the woods. Later, we stop in Midelt for lunch. Our drive then continues toward Merzouga, crossing the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and following the Ziz Valley, with short stops to enjoy the scenery and take photos.

In the afternoon, we reach the Merzouga Sahara desert, where you’ll switch to a camelback for a ride across the sand. We’ll stop on a high dune to watch the sunset before arriving at our desert camp. The camp combines traditional nomadic tents with modern comforts. Under the stars, you can listen to Berber drumming and join in dancing around the bonfire. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 8: Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – palm grove

To catch the beautiful sunrise over the desert, you’ll need to wake up early. After breakfast, you’ll head back to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, where your driver will be waiting. On the eighth day of your thirteen-day trip around Morocco, you’ll have time to explore the Merzouga area in depth. This region is full of interesting sights, including dunes, seasonal lakes, mineral deposits, fossil beds, and green oases. These places are great for all kinds of outdoor activities.

We’ll start our day in Merzouga with an off-road trip to an old kohl mine. Next, we’ll visit nomadic families who live in traditional tents, where you can learn about their way of life and enjoy some Berber tea. After that, we’ll head to the village of Khamlia to watch Gnaoua music and dance performed by locals whose roots are in countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Later, we’ll take a relaxed walk through the palm groves, then drive to see Merzouga’s natural lake, often called Flamingo Lake. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 9: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After breakfast, we’ll leave the desert and travel to Rissani, which was the main city of Tafilalet. Today, Rissani remains an important trading center with a large market.

After exploring the Rissani market, we’ll head to Erfoud to visit a marble workshop that features fossilized stone. Next, we’ll pass the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad on our way to the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved a stunning canyon through the mountains, with tall, red rock walls. The gorges are a great spot for climbing, and you’ll have time to walk through the canyons and enjoy the views. We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we’ll continue to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. We’ll make sure to stop at the famous “monkey fingers” rock formation and take in the panoramic views of the valley. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 10: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we head to Kalaa Magouna to visit the Rose Valley. Every May, the area comes alive with the annual Rose Festival, where locals display products made from roses, including perfumes, rose water, essential oils, and cosmetics. Next, we’ll pass through the palm oases of Skoura before reaching Ouarzazate, where we’ll tour the film studios used in famous movies.

Next, we visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This impressive fortress has appeared in many films, including Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as TV shows like Game of Thrones. Afterward, we travel to Marrakech, crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka mountain pass and the High Atlas mountains. We’ll stop for lunch and take photos at scenic spots along the way. The day ends with an overnight stay in a traditional Riad in Marrakech.

Day 11: Guided Tour sightseeing Marrakesh

After breakfast, we will set out to explore Marrakesh’s main attractions with a local guide. As one of Morocco’s historic capitals, the city is full of culture and impressive landmarks. Our day starts with a visit to the beautiful 19th-century Bahia Palace, then we’ll see the well-preserved Ben Youssef Madrasa, a former Islamic school known for its traditional Moroccan design. You’ll also stroll through the lively Medina and its markets, where you can admire colorful stalls and skilled artisans, enjoy the lively atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna Square, and see the outside of the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest in the city.

You’ll have free time for lunch. In the afternoon, meet your driver for a visit to the famous Majorelle Garden. Please note that you’ll need to book your ticket online in advance. After the garden, we’ll drive through Gueliz, the modern part of Marrakesh, before heading back to your hotel.

Day 12: Marrakech – Essaouira

After breakfast, we’ll head west to Essaouira. Along the way, we’ll stop to see the Argan tree groves and visit local cooperatives. If we’re lucky, we might spot goats in the trees. When we arrive in Essaouira, once called Mogador, you’ll find a vibrant coastal city known for its fresh seafood, beautiful beaches, and surfing. You’ll have free time to explore the lively fishing harbor, the old city walls with their original cannons, and the traditional Medina. Later, we’ll transfer you to your accommodation. We’ll spend the night in Essaouira.

Day 12: Essaouira – Casablanca

On the last day, we will leave Essaouira and head to Casablanca. We will take you to your departure terminal at Casablanca airport. For convenience, please book your outbound flight for 4:00 PM or later. If you would rather finish your trip in Marrakech, that is also possible.

How Long is The Camel Ride?

The Camel ride is 40 minutes to 1.5 hours long, depending on which camp you are staying in.

Pick-up and Drop-off Details

The meeting point for the tour is at 09 a.m. at any location within Marrakech. If your Riad is accessible by car, we will pick you up directly from there. In case of accessibility issues, we will pick you up from the nearest accessible road point. This can be arranged upon confirmation of your booking.

At the end of the tour, we will drop you off at any location in Tangier or its surroundings.

Expenses
