Itinerary

The journey commences with a pickup from either the airport, the port, or your accommodation in Casablanca. This vibrant city, recognized as Morocco's economic powerhouse, also stands as its largest. Our first exploration takes us to the grand Hassan II Mosque, a true architectural marvel and the largest mosque in the nation. It proudly rests on the city's western coast, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.  Afterwards, enjoy free time for a midday meal. The day proceeds with further city exploration, including a visit to the captivating Casablanca Corniche. Accommodation for the night is arranged at a hotel.

Following a morning meal, our travels continue along the scenic coastline towards Rabat, one of Morocco's historic imperial cities, now serving as its capital. We'll delve into the city's significant sites, encompassing the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya. There will be a break for lunch.  In the afternoon, we move northward via Ouazzane and into the Rif Mountains to reach the charming blue city of Chefchaouen, a place distinguished by its distinctive buildings and winding alleyways painted in enchanting hues. A hotel stay is scheduled for this evening.

After a hearty breakfast, indulge in the tranquility of the blue city of Chefchaouen with some free time to wander through its charming streets. We then drive to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis.  This remarkably preserved site, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, showcases stunning mosaics, alongside remnants of ancient pillars and archways. Following the time spent exploring these ruins, we proceed about 30 km to Meknes. As an old Ismaili capital, this city is also regarded as an imperial city. We'll experience highlights such as Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stable, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Later in the day, we continue onwards to Fes, concluding with an overnight stay at a traditional Riad.

After breakfast, a guided tour will unveil the most important parts of Fes. Fes, considered one of the imperial cities, stands as the cultural and religious epicenter of Morocco.  Our day starts with the Royal Palace gate. Then, the well-preserved medieval Medina will be explored - recognized by UNESCO. You will be exploring the Blue gate or Bab Boujloud, which represents the entrance of the old Medina. Venture within the Medina and experience Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, and the Tanneries. Included is a visit to the Quaraouin mosque and university, regarded as the oldest university globally. We’ll also discover the Jewish quarter, commonly referred to as “the Mellah”. In the afternoon, we'll venture to an ancient fortress that provides sweeping panoramic views of both the Medina and the greater city of Fes. The day will finish with a return to the Riad.

A filling breakfast marks the start of the day, which then shifts towards a drive south through Imouzzer towards Ifrane. This city is famous for its cold temperatures, snow, and houses with an alpine style -  therefore it's often nicknamed "Switzerland of Morocco". Subsequently, we make our way to the Cedars forest, home to Barbary macaques. You are welcome to interact with and feed the monkeys as you explore. Later, our route continues to Midelt, where free time is provided for lunch. Subsequently, we drive to Merzouga, traveling across the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz valley. Scheduled stops offer chances to capture beautiful panoramic views.

Upon arrival in the Merzouga Sahara in the afternoon, you'll switch to camels for a captivating journey through the desert's sandy expanse. A pause will be held atop a towering dune so that you may experience the sunset.  Our path proceeds to the desert camp, an amazing blend of traditional nomad tents and hotel luxury. It’s the perfect place to enjoy Berber drum music, dance around a campfire, while underneath a spectacular starlit night. Enjoy a well-prepared dinner followed by an overnight stay at the camp.

The day begins early with a wake up to witness a gorgeous desert sunrise. Following some free time for breakfast, the group will return via camel to Merzouga, where our driver will be awaiting. Leaving the desert behind, we'll next head to Rissani, which was the historical capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important regional trading center, hosting a thriving souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Following time in the Souk, the journey will continue to Erfoud to view a fossilized marble workshop. The drive goes via Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, before reaching the Todra Gorges. This stunning canyon has been created by the Todra river and now includes tall red cliffs. This is a favourite location for rock climbers. Free time will be granted for sightseeing, to take in the stunning scenery.  There'll also be time to enjoy lunch at a restaurant. Then the path takes us through Boumalne Dades and continues to the Dades Valley. There will be scheduled stops at the "monkey fingers" rock formation, alongside an area atop of a mountain affording panoramic views of the Dades valley. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be in a hotel.

After breakfast, the adventure progresses towards Kalaa Magouna and a visit to the Rose Valley. Each year in May, a Rose Festival is held. There, local businesses showcase their products derived from roses including perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetic products. The route carries on through the palm groves of Skoura. Later, we will go to Ouarzazate, which is also known as the "doorway to the desert". Included will be a visit to the film studios where many famous films were shot.

We then leave to see the impressive Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is also featured in many famous films like Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, in addition to TV series such as Game of Thrones. Next, the group is set for Marrakech. Along the way we’ll drive the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, the striking High Atlas Mountains will be seen. Numerous stops are planned for lunch and for the perfect photo opportunities. Finally, the group arrives in Marrakech, with accommodation at a Riad.

On our final day, the journey leads us north, toward the airport in Casablanca. We’ll pause for panoramic views. Transferring will conclude our adventure. 8 day Morocco tour concludes.
