An exhilarating 4-day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. This carefully arranged itinerary will take you to select attractions over four days and three nights.
Within this short period, you will journey through the resplendent High Atlas Mountains, cross the serpentine Tizi-N-Tichka Pass, and stop by the ancient Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah and the city of Ouarzazate. Then, you will head to the Draa Valley, a Moroccan treasure, Rissani, and the stunning Merzouga Sahara desert.
Activities include camel rides across sun-kissed dunes, sunset-to-sunrise magic, and a night under the stars in a traditional desert camp, along with visits to Dades Valley, striking Todra Gorge, and Kasbah Amridil, all followed by a safe return to Marrakesh.
This 4-day desert tour, beginning with the program, including pick-up from the airport or your Marrakech hotel, is immense. As the view unfolds over the morning while driving through the High Atlas Mountains, it mesmerizes one's eyes along the way. At some point, the Tizi-N-Tichka pass peeks out over the rainbow beneath a burst of sunlight. Stops will be made for panoramic views of the breathtaking landscapes. Next, we will proceed with the expected visit to the famous Kasbah, a fortified village and a World Heritage Site. Besides, the Kasbah has also been the locale for many films, which made the village famous as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and several others. Also, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou made its appearance on the TV show Game of Thrones. Now we go to "The gate of the desert", Ouarzazate. Hotels are there for lodging. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
After breakfast, we shall leave for Ouarzazate. The first stop will be Atlas Studios, very famous for shooting many well-known films. Afterward, the Taourirt Kasbah will be a visit to an ancient, fortified mud castle. After that, we move on to Agdz, where we will get to the Draa Valley, the longest river in Morocco. We will be traveling alongside, stopping for stupendous views over the palm groves, extraordinary Kasbahs, and Berber communities. There will be time for lunch in Nkob or Alnif. After lunch hours, we continue towards the Sahara desert of Merzouga through Rissani. Once we reach the Erg Chebbi dunes, we will be mounted on camels to traverse through the Sahara. We will stop at a big dune to admire the stunning sunset before heading towards our campsite, which mixes traditional nomadic tents with modern comforts. At the campsite, you'll enjoy Berber drum music and dance around the campfire under the stars. Dinner will be served, and we will spend the night at the camp.
The sunrise in the desert is arguably the best way to start a day. Take time to enjoy a good breakfast before attempting to rent a camel, which will return you to Merzouga, where your private driver will be waiting. We major in the historical capital of Tafilalet, Rissani. Rissani is still a trading area, so it would buzz on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays when its souk is open.
After checking out the Rissani Souk, we head off to Erfoud, where you will visit a fossilized marble workshop. After that, we go through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before arriving at the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River carved out an impressive canyon in the mountains to form a tall canyon with red cliffs. Great place for any rock climbing fans. Take some time to walk through the gorges and see the view. We will have time for lunch in a restaurant. Later, we will start our trip again to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. And you would make sure to stop by to view the unique "monkey fingers" rock formation, and at the high location where breathtaking views overlook the Dades valley. The last place where we will have dinner is at a hotel where we will also spend the night.
It would be according to the last day of this 4-day desert trip from Marrakech forth. This journey now takes us to Kalaa Magouna, where the mesmerising Rose Valley is to be visited. Every May, the Rose Festival happens, which is a great opportunity for local craftsmen to show their products made from roses, such as perfumes, floral waters, essential oils, and other cosmetics.
Then we will take a scenic route full of interesting Kasbahs, stopover at the Amridil Kasbah, set beautifully among the greens of Skoura. The next leg of the route will take us to Ouarzazate, with time for relaxing personal moments, including lunching within the precincts of the city.
The next leg of our journey now goes on into Marrakech. This will involve a drive through the Tizi-N-Tichka mountain pass as well as the breath-taking High Atlas Mountains. And the tour ends with your safe delivery either to your hotel or directly to the airport in Marrakech. End of tour.
