Itinerary

You have arrived in Casablanca. Today, you begin your epic journey across Morocco for 14 days from Casablanca. We are here for you at the Casablanca airport, harbor, or even at your chosen hotel. The metropolis is also the power hub and the largest city in the country. We shall first visit the Hassan II Mosque, which is a wonderful edifice and the largest mosque in the country. It is splendidly perched over the western coastline of the city on a promontory looking into the Atlantic Ocean. After our visit, you will have leisure time to have lunch. Then further in the city, while taking in the beauty of Casablanca's Corniche. We close with an overnight stay in a soft hotel room.

Breakfast is served, followed by a drive along the coastal route to Rabat. Rabat holds great importance, being one of Morocco's ancient imperial cities and presently the capital. An exhaustive tour will be provided of Rabat's primary sights. Contemplated in our itinerary are visits to Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and a walk through the Kasbah of the Udayas. After the tour, some free time will be granted for lunch. To the north lies Assilah, a picturesque seaside town, where we will check in for the night in a nice hotel.

After breakfast, we are leaving Assilah behind for a beautiful coast drive up to Tangier. The often dubbed "Bride of the North" lies in the northwest as it touches the point where the Mediterranean kisses the Atlantic at Cape Spartel within the strategic Strait of Gibraltar. Our first immersion into the enchantment of Tangier would be a visit to the famous Cave of Hercules and the views from Cape Spartel. After this place, we would rest for lunch. The journey continues inland to Chefchaouen. Passing by Tetouan, the road meanders through the grand Rif mountains, with set stops for breathtaking views. Finally, we will reach our hotel in Chefchaouen, where we will spend the night.

Following our morning meal, our adventure leads us to Chefchaouen, the famed "blue city". Its name, derived from the Berber "Achaoun," signifies "horns", referencing its position within the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco. The city captivates with its unique aesthetic – a mesmerizing tapestry of blue and white painted structures and winding lanes. We'll begin by meandering through the heart of Chefchaouen's Medina. Prepare to be enchanted by the array of traditional blue doors and pristine, whitewashed walls that define this remarkable locale. You are free to dine during lunchtime. The Spanish Mosque is a good afternoon option: a brief hike to its vantage point offers a panoramic vista of the azure-hued town. Afterwards, we'll return to our hotel and enjoy another evening in the same accommodation.

After breakfast, you will have time to stroll around the colorful lanes of Chefchaouen, which are painted in various shades of blue. We will then drive to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, one of the best-preserved ruins on UNESCO's World Heritage list. You will be able to admire various mosaics and buildings amidst ancient columns and magnificent archways. After the tour of the ruins, we shall continue to Meknes, a short drive of 30 kilometers. This city was the capital of the Ismailis and enjoys a place among the imperial cities. In Meknes, we will explore Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables, the granary, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. From there, we will proceed to Fes, where we will spend the night in a traditional Riad.

Day 6 of our 14-day grand Morocco tour is all about discovering the wonders of Fes. This city is one of Morocco's most important imperial cities and holds a prominent place as the kingdom's spiritual and artistic heart.

Our day begins with a visit to the majestic gate of the Royal Palace. Next, we'll delve into the heart of Fes – the remarkably preserved medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Accompanied by an expert local guide, we'll navigate this ancient quarter, starting with the iconic Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, which marks the entry point to the Medina's intricate network of narrow lanes and pathways. Inside the Medina, we will explore sites such as the Bouanania Madrasa, the Najjarine fountain, and the renowned Tanneries. We will also visit the Al Quaraouin mosque and its adjacent university, often regarded as the oldest continuously operating university worldwide. Following our Medina exploration, we will tour the Jewish Quarter, historically known as “the Mellah”. As the afternoon progresses, we'll proceed to an ancient fort to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Medina and the wider Fes cityscape. Finally, we will return to your Riad for the evening.

After breakfast, we traveled south from Imouzzer on our way to Ifrane. The city is well-known for its cold weather, periodic snowfall, and mountainside homes, with their distinctive alpine architecture, hence the title "Switzerland of Morocco." We will carry on into the Middle Atlas; the cedar forest that is home to Barbary apes is one of the most recognized landmarks. They may be fed as one checks them out in their forest homes. Our destination is now Midelt, where lunch cannot be avoided. After lunch, we will drive down to Merzouga, continuing through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz valley. We shall refrain from making some stops to snap some photographs at actual scenic spots.

The afternoon would entail us arriving at the Merzouga Sahara Desert for a camel ride that takes people to the camel desert safari to admire the sands. A break beckons up atop a high dune to witness the sunset before hurrying back to the campsite. Here, guests will have nomadic tents, although tourist hotels, good at providing the best of both worlds. Drum performances, dancing around the blazing campfire under the sparkling night sky, are must-do activities at this site. Dinner and nightfall need to happen after this.

The day demands an early start, thereby offering the chance of an astonishing view of the desert sunrise. Enjoy your breakfast at leisure. Afterward, a camel ride leads to Merzouga, where your driver waits. This is Day 8 of a 14-day grand Morocco tour, totally devoted to the marvelous surroundings of Merzouga. This area is full of astonishing places: enormous dunes, a tranquil wild lake, abandoned mines, places where fossils abound, and inviting oases – all choices for outdoor play.

Our first excursion in Merzouga will take us off-road to an ancient kohl mine. We will then meet with nomadic families in their woven homes. You will witness their lifestyle while enjoying some Berber tea. Then off to Khamlia village, where you will be treated to Gnaoua music and dance performances. The village people are descendants from sub-Saharan African countries, such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After this visit, you will have free time for lunch in a local restaurant. Then we will walk through the green palm grove, after which we will drive a short distance to the wild lake of Merzouga-often called the flamingo lake. Finally, we will return to Merzouga for dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

After breakfast, our next destination takes us away from the desert to Rissani, the ancient center of Tafilalet. Today, Rissani is also one of the main commercial centers of the region, with an extensive souk teeming with life from early on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

After visiting the souk of Rissani, we will continue traveling to Erfoud, where we will be taken on a visit to a workshop focused on marble fossils. After this, we shall drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before arriving at the Todra Gorges, where the power of the flow of the Todra River formed a striking canyon with stunningly towering red cliffs. It has become a famous site among rock climbers, where you can freely meander inside the gorges, taking in the beauty around. The lunch will be set in a local restaurant. Then, we shall attack the Dades Valley, whose road alkies through Boumalne Dades. It is a must that we stop over at the unique oddity, the "monkey fingers" formation, and at an opportune mountain viewpoint toward the Dades Valley. Lastly, we will enjoy dinner at a hotel and spend the night there.

After breakfast, we head towards Kalaa Magouna to witness Rose Valley. The Rose Festival occurs in May, and local artisans showcase their products made from roses: perfumes, rose water, oils, and other cosmetic items. Our next stop will see us passing through the palm groves of Skoura to Ouarzazate, and then we shall visit the film studios famous for blockbusters.

Next, we shall visit the beautiful Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has served as the setting for several movies like Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as television series like Game of Thrones. From there, we will follow the road leading to Marrakech. The road will take us across the Tizi-N-Tichka pass with its stunning views through the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch and photographs at selected scenic spots. Accommodation overnight will be in a Riad in Marrakech.

After breakfast, the day was set aside for visits to Marrakesh's most renowned monuments, accompanied by a local expert. This lively city stands proudly as one of Morocco's historic imperial cities. Our intended trip will include excursions to the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Ben Youssef Madrasa, along with an amble through the largest traditional market that Morocco has to offer. The time for lunch on one's own will be allocated close to the lively Jemaa el-Fna square. In the afternoon, we shall visit Koutoubia Mosque (the largest in Marrakesh) before heading to the beautiful Majorelle Garden. After that, our driver will take you back to your hotel. From here, you may commence your self-exploration of Jemaa el-Fna.

After breakfast, we will proceed westward toward Essaouira. En route, we will stop to see goats in the Argan trees, along with scenic views. Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, is a major town along the coast of Morocco. Here we will visit the busy fishing port, the old ramparts, and the medina. Afterward, we will be transferred to our hotel. The evening is left for leisure; overnight stay in Essaouira.

After breakfast, we will head toward Marrakech with some stops made for sightseeing. On arrival, you will have leisure time to tour the famous Jemaa El-Fna square before heading to a Riad for the night.

On the final day of your 14 days Morocco tour from Casablanca, commencing in Casablanca, we'll transport you to Marrakech Airport. This transfer will be scheduled according to your flight's departure time. The tour concludes at this point.
