Itinerary

Our adventure commences as we greet you upon your arrival in Casablanca, be it at the airport, the harbor, or your hotel. Casablanca, Morocco's economic powerhouse and largest metropolis, welcomes you. Our initial destination is the majestic Hassan II Mosque, the country's grandest, strategically perched on a coastal promontory with breathtaking Atlantic views. Following this architectural marvel, we'll allow you free time for a delicious lunch. Afterward, we'll dive into exploring the city, including the scenic Casablanca Corniche. We'll then check into our hotel for an overnight stay.

Following our morning meal, we'll set out from Casablanca towards Volubilis, to experience the remarkable remnants of the Roman Empire. This site is remarkably intact, having been granted World Heritage status by UNESCO. Here, you can explore many striking mosaics, along with ancient columns and elegant archways. Following our exploration of the ruins, we proceed about 30 km to Meknes. Meknes was once the Ismaili capital, and is one of the famed imperial cities. In Meknes we will tour sites like Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables and the granary. A visit to the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum will conclude our tour in Meknes. Later, we'll travel to Fes where we will be accommodated for the night in a Riad.

This day is exclusively for discovering the iconic sights of Fes, accompanied by a local expert. Fes holds a significant place as one of Morocco's imperial cities, and serves as its cultural and spiritual heart. Our exploration commences with a visit to the grand Royal Palace gate. Following this, we'll venture into the meticulously preserved medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will enter through the famous Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, the primary access point to the old Medina, a place of winding alleyways and intricate streets. Within the Medina, our journey encompasses the Medrasa Bouanania, the scenic Najjarine fountain, and the renowned Tanneries. We'll also see the prestigious Quaraouin mosque and university, celebrated as the oldest university globally. We will end the Medina experience visiting the Jewish quarter or "the Mellah." In the late afternoon, we'll journey towards an ancient fortress for a breathtaking panoramic view over the Medina and Fes city, finishing the day at your Riad.

Following our morning meal, we'll head south, traversing through Imouzzer on our way to Ifrane. This locale is renowned for its chilly climate, snowfall, and the alpine architectural style that defines its dwellings. The moniker "Switzerland of Morocco" is indeed fitting. Our journey then leads us toward the cedar forest, which serves as the natural habitat for the Barbary macaques. You are welcome to offer them treats during your exploration of the woods. Subsequently, our route proceeds to Midelt, providing an opportunity for a relaxed lunch break. From there, we'll travel to Merzouga, our passage taking us via the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass, while tracing the course of the Ziz valley. Brief stops for appreciating scenic perspectives will be included. As the afternoon progresses, we'll find ourselves in the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. At this juncture, we switch to camelback and embark on a trek across the sandy expanse. We'll make a brief stop at a high dune, providing a vantage point to observe the sunset. Eventually, we proceed towards the desert camp. Here, you can immerse yourself in the sounds of Berber drumming, joining in the dancing around a campfire, beneath the immense, starlit sky. The evening concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.

Rising before dawn is essential to witness the stunning sunrise display over the desert landscape. Following this, enjoy breakfast. Afterwards, you'll journey back to Merzouga on camelback, where your driver will be waiting. From there, we depart the desert and head to Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a significant commercial hub, boasting a bustling and vibrant souk. Following a walk through Rissani's souk, our route continues to Erfoud. Here, we'll explore a workshop dedicated to fossilized marble. Our journey then progresses through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, leading us to the Todra Gorges. The Todra River's path has sculpted a towering canyon with crimson cliffs that run through the mountains. These gorges offer an excellent location for rock climbers to test their skills. Take the time to explore the gorges and savor the surrounding beauty. Lunch will be available at a restaurant. Later, we proceed towards the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. There will be essential stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and to absorb the scenery of the Dades Valley. In the end, you'll have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.

Next up, we proceed towards Kalaa Magouna, and the Rose Valley awaits our visit. Each May, a Rose Festival takes place. Here, local vendors proudly showcase their rose-based goods. Afterwards, we'll journey through the Skoura palm oasis. Our destination then becomes Ouarzazate, with a visit to the film studios that have been the backdrop for numerous well-known movies. Following this, our path leads us to the celebrated Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, beckons. The Kasbah has famously featured in films like: Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, amongst others, and also in television series such as Game Of Thrones. Subsequently, we’ll journey on to Marrakech. This leg of the trip will involve driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and across the High Atlas Mountains. Regular pauses will be included for midday repasts and photo opportunities at points of interest. Upon arrival in Marrakech, we'll transport you to the airport or your designated lodging. This concludes your 6-day Moroccan tour.
