7 Days South of Morocco, Moroccan Desert Adventure Tour 

Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakesh- Ait Benhaddou –Ouarzazat-Rose valley- Dades gorges 

The road trip starts by driving towards Kasbah Ait benhadou via the highest pass in Africa Tizi N’ Tichka (Altitude 2260 m ) while enjoying the super views of the giant High Atlas Mountains with the panoramic Berber villages. We continue the journey to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou. Situated on a hill along the Ouarzazate River, This beautiful example of southern Moroccan architecture has been used as a backdrop for over 20 famous movies including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of thrones, The Mummy, and Gladiator. We pass by Ouarzazat, one major Berber city in southern Morocco known as the Hollywood of Africa and by the rose valley and overnight in a hotel in the Dades Gorges.

 

Day 2: Dades Gorges-Todra Gorges-Erfoud- Rissani-Merzouga (desert camp)

After breakfast in your hotel we leave the Dades gorges and head to Todra gorges Gorge via Tinghir and the lush valley of Todra where you will have a little hike along the narrow and high cliffs of Todra. Aftwards, we contiue to Merzouga via the dramatic stony desert and the palmeries of Erfoud (capital of the fossiles) and Rissani known for its largest market in the south. In the afternoon we arrive to Merzouga desert where you get ready and accompanied by a camelguide to go for an authentic camel trek experience of around 90 minutes where you can catch the sunset in the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes and spend a memorable night with millions of shiny stars, enjoy a Berber dinner, drum party and sleep in a traditional nomadic tent.

Day 3: Exploring the regions of the Sahara – Merzouga

After you wake up early to watch the sunrise, you will ride your camels back to your hotel for taking a shower and eat breakfast. Afterwards we take our 4×4 to drive around the mystic Erg Chebbi dunes and stop for tea with a nomadic desert family and get to know their way of living. Then continue to visit Khamlia a small village inhabited by black people to listen to their traditional Gnawa music, then an other visit Rissani to bustle and bargain in its traditional Souk, visit some of the Kasbah and Ksour in the Area and have lunch with our family and friends. Free afternoon in the desert and overnight in our hotel.

Day 4 : Merzouga – Alnif – Nekkob – Agdz :

Departure at 9 am from the desert.We will be driving towards Agdz through the range of the dramatic Anti Atlas mountains and the fabulous views of the rocky desert passing by Alnif which is famous the Henna groves. After lunch in Nekkob this green little palmery, we arrive to Agdz a small town located at shore of the Draa river that is considered the longest in Moocco. Overnight in a hotel in Agdz.

Day 5: Agdz – Taznakht – Taliouin – Taroudant:

We will depart from Agdz straight after breakfast via the dramatic Anti Atlas mountains to reach the town of Taznakht, known for its colorful berber rugs made by local women from the irea, then we continue to have lunch in Taliouin where the pure Safran of Morocco grows. Afterwards, we will arrive to Taroudant or the grandmother of Marrakech. Free time for you to explore this fortified town, with its ancient medina and traditional souks. Overnight in a riad in Taroudant.

Day 6: Taroudant – Argan forests – Agadir – Essaouira:

Following breakfast, we will drive towards Essaouira while enjoying the stunning views of the Argan trees being scaled by goats to eats their fruits. The trip continues futher west to reach the Atlantic cost line passing by Agadir a modern berber city and tourist resort. After lunch in one of the costal towns along the Atlantic ocean we head to Essaouira. Overnight in a riad in Essaouira.

Day 7: Essaouira sightseeing – Marrakech:

Half day in Essaouira is dedicated to explore the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean and the charming seaside haven of the city, also to explore its port and to enjoy a most fresh seafood lunch; also you will be devoted to bathing and relaxing on the beach of this coastal city. On the fortifications of the old town you’ll be able to trace Portuguese, French and Berber architecture. Its whitewashed houses, cool breezes, relaxed atmosphere along with its friendly cafes, numerous craftsmen and the delicious fresh seafood would make this a charming place one of your highlights. 2 hours and half driving would bring us back to Marrakech where the tour ends. Drop off at your previously selected accommodation.
