Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
On your first day, we will pick you up early from the Casablanca airport, port, or your hotel. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city and its economic center. Our first stop is the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in the country, located on the city’s western coast with views of the Atlantic Ocean. After some free time for lunch, we will explore more of the city, including a visit to the beautiful Corniche. You will spend the night at a hotel.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we’ll set out along the coast to Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its imperial cities in the northwest. We’ll visit highlights like the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya. You’ll have some free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll drive north through Ouazzane to Chefchaouen, the Blue City, famous for its blue-painted buildings and winding streets in the Rif Mountains. We’ll spend the night at a hotel.
Day 3: Chefchaouen - Volubilis Ruins - Meknes – Fes
After a relaxed breakfast, take some time to wander through the charming alleyways of Chefchaouen, the Blue City. Next, we will visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. These ruins are very well-preserved and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
As you explore the ruins, you will see many beautiful mosaics, as well as old pillars and archways. After visiting Volubilis, we will drive about 30 kilometers to Meknes. Meknes, once the Ismaili capital, is also one of
Morocco’s imperial cities. We will visit important sites such as
Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal Stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Afterward, we will continue to Fes for an overnight stay at a Riad.
Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes
Today, you’ll join a local guide to explore Fes and visit its most famous landmarks. Fes is known as an imperial city and is Morocco’s cultural and religious heart. We’ll start at the Royal Palace gate before heading into the medieval Medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You’ll see the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), the main entrance to the old Medina. From here, you’ll wander through narrow streets and alleys. Inside the Medina, you’ll visit Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouin mosque and university, known as the world’s oldest university. Later, we’ll leave the Medina to explore the Jewish Quarter, called “the Mellah.”
After that, we’ll visit an old fortress with a great view of the Medina and the city of Fes. In the evening, you’ll return to your Riad to rest.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we’ll head south through Imouzzer and stop in Ifrane. Known for its cold weather, snow, and alpine-style buildings, Ifrane is often called the Switzerland of Morocco. Next, we’ll visit the cedar forest, home to Barbary macaques. You can meet these monkeys as you explore the woods.
Later, we’ll drive to Midelt, where you can enjoy lunch whenever you like. Afterward, we’ll travel to Merzouga, passing through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz valley, with stops for photos. By afternoon, we’ll arrive at the Merzouga Sahara desert.
Here, you’ll ride camels across the desert. We’ll pause on a high dune to watch the sunset before heading to camp. The camp blends traditional nomad tents with hotel comforts. You can listen to Berber drum music, dance by the campfire under the stars, enjoy a special dinner, and spend the night at camp.
Day 6: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Start day six early to catch the beautiful sunrise over the desert. After breakfast, you’ll ride camels back to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting. Next, we’ll head to Rissani, the old capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important trading center, and its lively souk operates three days a week.
After exploring Rissani’s souk, we’ll drive to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. On the way to the Todra Gorges, we’ll pass through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. The Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon through the mountains, creating steep red cliffs.
The gorges are a favorite spot for rock climbers. You’ll have time to explore and enjoy the impressive scenery. We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we continue to the Dades valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. We’ll make stops at the ‘monkey fingers’ rock formation and another viewpoint with great views of the valley. Dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel are included.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura Palm Groves – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
On the final day of our trip, we head to Kalaa Magouna to visit the Rose Valley. Every May, the area hosts a Rose Festival featuring a wide range of rose products, including perfumes, rosewater, oils, and beauty items. We will also drive through the Skoura palm groves before reaching Ouarzazate.
Next, we will visit the film studios where many well-known movies were filmed. After that, we will go to the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site. This location has appeared in movies like Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as TV series such as Game of Thrones.
We will then travel to Marrakech, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains, with photo stops along the way. Once in Marrakech, we will take you to the airport or your chosen accommodation. This will be the end of your 7-Day Tour from Casablanca to Marrakech.
