9-day tour of Morocco from Casablanca starts with a pick-up at the airport or your hotel in Casablanca. This private tour is done with a private English-speaking driver. The tour commences with a visit to the city of Casablanca, followed by a move to the capital of Morocco, Rabat, and then to Chefchaouen, known as the Blue Pearl, and also includes a visit to the Roman ruins of Volubilis.
It takes you on a journey through Meknes, the Ismaili capital, Fes, a cultural city, and the Switzerland of Morocco. Then, proceed south toward the cedar forests of Midelt, crossing the wonderful Ziz valley. Make a stop in Erfoud at the fossils town and the Rissani traditional market. The most important of all is the Sahara Desert at Merzouga.
Riding camels is one thing, and spending the night in a luxurious camp in the middle of the desert is another. Enjoy magical sunset and sunrise views in the Sahara. After this, walk along the magnificent Todra/Todgha and Dades gorges. Visit to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Cross the majestic High Atlas mountain ranges and the breathtaking Tizi-n-Tichka pass. Then, visit Marrakech with a local guide. And the last point, Casablanca, will close the 9 days.
The 9-day tour in Morocco starts by picking you up from the airport or your hotel in Casablanca. The city is the largest in Morocco and is financially vital. We will visit the Hassan II mosque first, which is Morocco’s largest mosque. West of the city, the mosque occupies a lofty vantage point above the Atlantic Ocean. Time for lunch. After this, the tour is in the hands of the guide, and visits will include Casablanca’s stunning Corniche, Rick’s Cafe, and Mohamed V Square, also known as Pigeon’s Square. Depending on your arrival date, you may need to shift some stops to the next day. Overnight stay at a hotel.
After breakfast, we drive along the ocean to Rabat, which is an important city in Morocco and is now the capital. You will visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya. Time for lunch. Next, we drive north through Ouazzane and up the Rif mountains to the blue city of Chefchaouen, known for its white and blue buildings and narrow streets. Overnight in a Riad.
After breakfast, you will be taken on the beautiful paths of the blue city, Chefchaouen. Next, we go on an excursion to the old Roman ruins at Volubilis. It is preserved well, and UNESCO recognizes it as a World Heritage Site.
Its beautiful mosaics are lavishly seen all around amidst its old pillars and arches. After exploring the antiquities, drive for 30 more kilometers to the city of Meknes. This city is the Ismaili capital and happens to be one of the most important cities in Morocco. The most remarkable spots to see here include: Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani basin, the royal stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail tomb. Next stop and final destination is Fes.
Overnight stay in a Riad.
After breakfast, we will collect you from the hotel in Fes and escort you on a deep dive into one of the famous cities in Morocco — Fes, culturally and spiritually the heart of the country. The tour will start with a drive, visiting the Royal Palace Gate, which is elegant enough, and then onward to “The Mellah,” the old Jewish Quarter.
From there, it is a fantastic view from the Borj Sud fortress, overlooking the old town, after which we will stop at the Ceramic Village and School to see the work of traditional pottery-making. From there, you will embark on a walking tour, taking a trip back in time to the medieval Medina.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site ranks amongst the finest-preserved old towns in the Arab world. You will be accompanied by a helpful local guide to important sites such as Al Attarine madrasa, the University and Mosque of Al Quaraouiyine, reputedly the oldest university still in operation, and the colorful Chouara tanneries, where leather is dyed using ancient methods. After the fascinating historical expedition, you will return to your hotel and unwind.
After breakfast, we drive south to Ifrane through Imouzzer. Very cold, snowy, and house-like mountains typical of what the travel agent would call the “Switzerland of Morocco”. Then on to the cedar forest, which houses the Barbary macaques, sometimes called Barbary apes.
You can feed them on your walk in the forest. Next, we are heading to Midelt for a while to eat lunch. Then it will be on foot to Merzouga by the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass along the Ziz valley. We will take a few stops for some nice views along the route. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Merzouga area in the Sahara Desert. From this point, he rides camels through the huge sandy desert.
He will stop at a tall sand hill to watch the sunset. Finally, you get to the desert camp. The camp offers the warmth of traditional nomadic tents with the luxury of a fancy hotel. You can listen to Berber drum music and dance around the campfire under the big, starry sky. Dinner, night, and sleep will take place at the camp.
After breakfast, we visit the town of Rissani in the desert. The oldest capital of Tafilalet, Rissani, is now an important trading place in the area with a huge market that gets busy on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After this, a sight of Rissani Market takes us to Erfoud to visit the workshop on fossilized marble.
Then, we go through the palm areas of Touroug and Tinjdad before heading to Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a canyon in the mountains. These gorges are really great for rock climbers. Explore those gorges and feast your eyes on the beautiful views. The time to have lunch at a restaurant. Next destination is the Dades Valley, enjoying the way through Boumalne Dades.
An obligatory stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation. And at a high place on a mountain that looks over the Dades valley. Finally, we will enjoy dinner followed by a night at a hotel.
After breakfast, we continue our way to Kalaa Magouna to see for ourselves the Rose Valley. In May, every year, a Rose Festival is celebrated, where residents sell their rose products. Next, we drive through Skoura palm trees. Then we arrive in Ouarzazate, also named the desert gate. Here we shall go and visit the Atlas Studios, where famous films were made.
Next, we shall visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou: a fortified village that is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has also featured in many movies, including Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy. Alongside, it was also featured in a TV series: Game of Thrones. We will take a short 20-minute walk to the Kasbah before continuing to Marrakesh.
Driving through Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. We will take breaks for lunch and pictures at points of interest. Overnight in a Riad in Marrakesh.
After breakfast, the tour will proceed to one of the highlights of Marrakesh, the Red City, with a local guide. This city is considered one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. The visit includes: The Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Quranic mosque, and a stroll through the largest traditional Souk/Market in Morocco. Free time for lunch close to Jemaa El-Fna square. Later on, you will visit the Koutoubia mosque, the biggest mosque in Marrakesh, and the Majorelle garden. Finally, transfer back to your accommodation. You are free to wander in Jemaa El-Fna on your own.
On the last day of the visit, depending on your flight schedule, you might get the chance to spend time in Marrakesh. At this point, we drive north to the International Airport of Casablanca. The Camel ride is 40 minutes to 1.5 hours long, depending on which camp you are staying in.
The meeting point for the tour is at 09 a.m. at any location within Marrakech. If your Riad is accessible by car, we will pick you up directly from there. In case of accessibility issues, we will pick you up from the nearest accessible road point. This can be arranged upon confirmation of your booking.
At the end of the tour, we will drop you off at any location in Tangier or its surroundings.
