Day 1: Arrival to Casablanca – Visit The Largest City Of Morocco

The journey commences with a pickup from either the airport, the port, or your accommodation in Casablanca. This vibrant city, recognized as Morocco’s economic powerhouse, also stands as its largest. Our first exploration takes us to the grand Hassan II Mosque, a true architectural marvel and the largest mosque in the nation. It proudly rests on the city’s western coast, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, enjoy free time for a midday meal. The day proceeds with further city exploration, including a visit to the captivating Casablanca Corniche. Accommodation for the night is arranged at a hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca to Rabat & Chefchaouen

After breakfast, our journey will continue along the coastal road that leads to Rabat, one of Morocco’s ancient imperial cities and the present-day capital. We will explore Rabat’s prominent monuments, including Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya. Lunch will be taken. From there, we will head north through Ouazzane and into the Rif Mountains to arrive at the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen, known for its unique buildings and winding alleys painted in stunning colors. We will spend the night at a hotel.

Day 3: Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes & Fes

Relax with a hearty breakfast, and then enjoy the blue city of Chefchaouen for the rest of the time, free to roam around its charming streets. We drive to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. It is a UNESCO-listed site as a World Heritage Site, very well preserved, and has beautiful mosaics, as well as remnants of old pillars and archways. After that, we will then continue to Meknes, by traveling about 30 km after visiting these ruins. The city is also known as an imperial city that served as the former Ismaili capital.

We will visit the major highlights, which include Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stable, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. And finally, later in the day, we continue to Fes to spend the night in a traditional Riad.

Day 4: Guided Tour in Fes

After breakfast, a guided tour will unveil the most important parts of Fes. Fes, considered one of the imperial cities, stands as the cultural and religious epicenter of Morocco.  Our day starts with the Royal Palace gate. Then, the well-preserved medieval Medina will be explored, recognized by UNESCO.

You will be exploring the Blue Gate or Bab Boujloud, which represents the entrance of the old Medina. Venture within the Medina and experience Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, and the Tanneries. Included is a visit to the Quaraouin mosque and university, regarded as the oldest university globally. We’ll also discover the Jewish quarter, commonly referred to as “the Mellah”. In the afternoon, we’ll venture to an ancient fortress that provides sweeping panoramic views of both the Medina and the greater city of Fes. The day will finish with a return to the Riad.

Day 5: Fes, Ifrane, Cedars Forest, Midelt & Merzouga Sahara

A hearty breakfast begins each day, which then might be immediately translated to a casual drive south through Imouzzer towards Ifrane. This is the city of snow and a cold climate, with alpine houses around, thus typically dubbed “Switzerland of Morocco”.

It will then be followed by a visit to the Cedars forest, to which Barbary macaques are indigenous. You can actually get to pet and feed the monkeys while wandering around. Our itinerary will continue with Midelt, where free time is given for lunch. After that, we will proceed to Merzouga by crossing the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and traveling through the Ziz valley. Scheduled stops can be opportunities for nice panoramic photography shots.

In the afternoon, Merzouga Sahara’s arms open up to you, which trade camouflage for the long-haul process of acclimatization and anything else that brings you back to the small camera you have on your forehead. A place at the top of one of the tallest dunes, where you will witness the sunset. From here, we will ride on to the desert camp, where we will experience a beautiful blend of traditional nomad tents and the luxury of hotels.

Here, one can relish Berber drum music with dance around the campfire under the most beautiful starlit nights. Culminate your evening with a deliciously prepared dinner and wind up your night in a tent at the camp.

Day 6: Merzouga, Rissani, Erfoud, Todra Gorges & Dades Valley

The early wake-up call to a splendid desert sunrise starts the day. After some free time during breakfast, the group will return via a camel to Merzouga, where our driver will be waiting. But now we are leaving this friendly expanse of dunes and continuing towards Rissani, the former capital of the Tafilalet.

Rissani remains a major trading center at the provincial level and has a developing souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

The next stop after visiting the souk is Erfoud to visit a petrified marble workshop. The driving takes place through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, before reaching the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has sculpted this breathtaking canyon over the years, creating sheer red cliffs. This is a favorite area for rock climbers. Free time for sightseeing and enjoying the grand landscape. Time will be allocated for a lunch stop at a restaurant.

Then the path takes us through Boumalne Dades and continues to the Dades Valley. There will be scheduled stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation, alongside an area atop a mountain affording panoramic views of the Dades valley. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be in a hotel.

Day 7: Dades Valley, Valley of Roses, Skoura, Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, Telouet, High Atlas & Marrakech

After breakfast, the adventure progresses towards Kalaa Magouna and a visit to the Rose Valley. Each year in May, a Rose Festival is held. There, local businesses showcase their products derived from roses, including perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetic products. The route carries on through the palm groves of Skoura. Later, we will go to Ouarzazate, which is also known as the “doorway to the desert”. Included will be a visit to the film studios where many famous films were shot.

We then leave to see the impressive Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is also featured in many famous films like Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, in addition to TV series such as Game of Thrones. Next, the group is set for Marrakech. Along the way, we’ll drive the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, and the striking High Atlas Mountains will be seen. Numerous stops are planned for lunch and for the perfect photo opportunities. Finally, the group arrives in Marrakech, with accommodation at a Riad.

Day 8: Marrakech to Casablanca

The final day will take us north to the airport at Casablanca. There will be an opportunity to stop for some beautiful panoramic view pictures. The transfer will be the end of our safari tour. The 8-day Morocco tour is over.
