Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Sahara
The 7-day trip through Morocco’s Sahara begins after breakfast when the group travels southward through Imouzzer to reach Ifrane. The town maintains its reputation for cold weather and winter snow and displays architectural styles that resemble alpine chalets, which has led to its identification as “Morocco’s Switzerland.” Our expedition advances toward the cedarwood forest, which serves as the natural environment for wild Barbary apes; we will conduct a short hike among the ancient trees. The travel route begins at Midelt, which provides travelers with time to eat their own lunch before ascending to Tizi n’Talghamt Pass and following the Ziz Valley route,e which offers multiple scenic viewpoint stops.
The Sahara Desert Merzouga section becomes our destination as the day continues to unfold. The dunes become our journeying path when we switch to camels, which will take us to an elevated dune to witness the sunset. The final leg of our journey leads us to our desert encampment, which combines traditional nomadic tents with modern amenities for guests to enjoy Berber drumming shows at a bonfire party that takes place beneath a sky full of stars. The desert camp will serve as our accommodation for the upcoming night.

We go to visit nomadic tribes who built their tents, and we share a Berber tea experience while we learn about their daily life.
The Khamlia destination offers authentic Gnawa music presentations with traditional dance performances because most residents trace their family history back to Mali, Sudan, and Niger. The local hotel will provide guests with dinner and overnight accommodation.

You will have free time to visit the gorge area and to eat your afternoon meal.
