Itinerary

1 Day: Arrival in Casablanca

We will transfer you from the airport, the port, or your hotel. This is where the adventure in Morocco starts. Casablanca is the country’s biggest city and its economic heart. First, we will visit the Hassan II Mosque, which is Morocco’s largest mosque and occupies an impressive position on the western coast of the city overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. There will be free time for lunch. After lunch, we will continue exploring and visiting the city’s core sites, such as the very beautiful Corniche of Casablanca. For the day, one can look forward to spending the night in a cozy hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca - Volubilis Roman Ruins - Meknes - Fes

We are off after the morning meal, leaving Casablanca toward Volubilis, the site of ancient Roman ruins. Considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the site has very well-preserved architecture. The place is brimming with mosaics around ancient pillars and grand archways. Then we head towards Meknes (about 30 km drive): the ancient capital of Ismaïl and an imperial city.

It’s to visit the great attractions of Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani basin, royal stables, the granary, and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. What’s next is the city of Fes, where we will spend the night at a Riad of traditional Riad.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Sahara

Southwards after breakfast. Through Imouzzer, in Ifrane’s direction. Probably known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its cool climate and heavy snowfalls with alpine-type homes. Cedar forests will follow- the natural habitat for the Barbary macaques. Feeding monkeys is encouraged during exploration of the forests.

Then comes Midelt, where lunch shall be taken, and after that, traveling through Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and Ziz valley, towards Merzouga, with stops at various points for those views. We would reach Merzouga Sahara in the afternoon, where we would be changing means of transport from a vehicle to camels. This camel’s detachment will take you into the real heart of the unes in the desert.

The next object is the top of a high dune, where you will best enjoy the fantastic sunset. At the end of the day, we will reach the camp in the desert: a wonderful combination of traditional nomads’ tents and the riches and comforts you would expect from a hotel. Listen to the wonderful rhythms of the Berber drums and dance around a campfire beneath the breathtaking star-filled sky. Night camp overnight, then dinner.

Day 4: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

The early sunrise in the desert should not be missed. After breakfast, we’ll ride our camels back to Merzouga, where our driver will be waiting. Then, we leave the desert for Rissani town, once the capital of Tafilalet. Even today, Rissani serves as a significant trading center for the region.

After visiting the Rissani souk, we shall proceed to Erfoud, where a fossilized marble workshop can be visited. After Erfoud, we shall cross the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad till we reach the Todra Gorges. The impressive canyon formed by the Todra River can now attract climbers and adventurers alike.

Admire the beautiful scenery inside the gorges during our visit. There will be free time to eat our lunch. Thereafter, we make our way toward Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades, with stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation, with scenic views of the Dades Valley. The hotel, which comes with dinner, will serve as accommodation for the night.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

We proceed on our trip by departure, heading towards Kalaa Magouna to visit and appreciate the Rose Valley. A Rose Festival occurs every May when the local producers showcase their rose-related products. We travel through the Skoura palm groves before going to Ouarzazate. Here, we will do a studio visit where many movies have been filmed.

Then we go to the well-known Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village that earned the status of UNESCO World Heritage site. The long list of movies and TV series that have used the Kasbah as the backdrop includes “Gladiator”, “Alexander”, “The Mummy”, and “Game of Thrones”.

The next and final destination shall be Marrakech. We will pass through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the magnificent High Atlas Mountains. Expect us to break for lunch and snap photos at beautiful places. Finally, we will arrive in Marrakech and transfer you either to the airport or your desired accommodations. The 5-day tour of Morocco comes to an end here.
