4 Days Tour From Fes to Merzouga Desert

4 Days from Fes to Merzouga Itinerary

Overview

The 4-day tours from Fes to Merzouga Desert involve multiple stops at beautiful locations throughout the three days and two nights of the expedition. Our journey begins in Fes, where we make our first stop at Ifrane, commonly referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’, to explore the cedar woodlands. We will stop in Midelt to eat lunch before continuing our journey through the beautiful landscape of the Ziz River valley. The Dades and Todra Gorges await your discovery beyond that point. We will proceed to the Sahara area located near Merzouga after our current location. Visitors can experience camel rides, which lead to an overnight stay in a remote desert camp located within the sandy terrain. The Sahara Desert offers visitors a unique opportunity to see both the sunset and sunrise. The experience includes a 4×4 drive to discover more of the desert landscape. We will proceed to visit Rissani’s traditional marketplace before we reach Erfoud, which is famous for its fossil sites. The trip ends with our return to Fes.

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest- Midelt – Ziz valley – Errachidia – Dades Gorges

The 4-day tour from Fes to Merzouga will start with us picking you up from your Fes accommodations at an early time. Our route then heads southward, passing through Imouzzer, en route to Ifrane. The area receives its name “Morocco’s Switzerland” because it has many snowy days, cold weather conditions, and buildings that resemble Alpine chalet structures. The drive takes us to the cedar forest where Barbary Apes live; visitors can feed and pet the animals while they walk through the forest area. The drive proceeds to Midelt, where we will stop for our lunch break. The route to Errachidia requires passing through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt bridge and traveling beside the Ziz River. Our Errachidia stop will lead us toward the Dades Gorges after we complete our required stops at Boumalne Dades. Visitors can see the unique “monkey fingers” rock formations and a mountain peak, which provides complete views of the Dades valley. A local hotel will provide both accommodation and dinner services.

Day 2: Dades gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud -Merzouga Sahara – Overnight in a Luxury Camp

The Todra Gorges are our next destination after we finish eating breakfast. The Todra River has created a stunning canyon, which develops into high cliffs made from red rock. You can visit the gorges whenever you want to see their beautiful natural environment. Our journey continues through the palm oasis region,s which connects the two locations of Touroug and Tinjdad. The journey will include a lunch break at a designated location.

The group will start using camels to travel through the sandy areas of Merzouga when they reach theSahara Desertt area later in the day. The plan includes a break, which will happen at a high point,e so people can enjoy watching the beautiful sunset. We will advance to the luxurious desert camping area after this. The gathering will take part in traditional Berber drumming while they dance around a fire in the open space under the vast starry night sky. The camp will supply dinner and sleeping accommodations for the night.

Day 3: Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove

The beautiful sunrise over the desert requires people to rise at dawn for successful viewing—the time after that goes to breakfast. We will use camels to return to Merzouga after we complete breakfast because our driver will already be there. The entire day is reserved for discovering the Merzouga surroundings. The site offers multiple outstanding attractions, which include massive dunes, an unspoiled lake, ancient mining locations, fossil sites, and beautiful oases. The various outdoor activities can all be enjoyed at these sites.

Our team begins its examination of Merzouga by going off-road to study an abandoned kohl (eyeliner) mine. The next location we went to was nomadic villages, which contained their people lived in traditional tents made from woven materials. The people demonstrate their daily routine while you drink Berber tea with them. The Gnaoua music and dance performances will begin at Khamlia village,e which we will visit next. The local people here claim their roots come from sub-Saharan African countries, including Mali, Sudan, and Niger. The time period after this event will include a local restaurant lunch. The upcoming activity involves us walking through the palm grove,e which contains many palm trees. We travel to see the distant Merzouga lake, which locals call Flamingo Lake. The hotel schedule includes dinner service, which leads to guests staying overnight at the establishment.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Ziz valley – Errachidia – Ifrane – Fes

The desert period after our breakfast ends when we proceed to Rissani, which served as Tafilalet’s main city in ancient times. Rissani serves as an essential market town because it contains a lively souk which attracts customers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, ys and Sundays. Our first stop at Rissani market will lead us to Erfoud, where our next stop will be a tour of the facility that produces fossil-infused marble.

The Ziz River route we will take includes a break to view the Ziz Valley’s beautiful landscape. We will travel through cedar forests until we reach Ifrane and then proceed to Fes. We will take you to the airport or your chosen hotel at this time. The four-day trip to the Merzouga Desert reaches its end at this point.
